Mewtwo and Mew

It's been so long since I've been able to sew! Aah, I think I might be suffering from withdrawal! D':

I actually did manage to do the "30 days of dresses" challenge. Sadly, I never had time to take pictures, so I really have no proof. When I have some freetime in the next few weeks, I'll try to do some replications of my summer dress attires!

Since I really don't have time to make a Halloween costume for this year, I'm going to let myself cheat and re-wear my Raichu cosplay as a Halloween costume. Either that, or wear my striped dress and go as a Female "Beetlejuice".

As for Ohayocon, I will be working on two cosplays. Mewtwo for my boyfriend, and Mew for myself. Although there's a fun little twist in the cosplay that I wont reveal until the very end! Can anyone guess what it will be? :3

Cosplay Hiatus: 30 Days of Dresses

Sorry for the lack of cosplays! Life's been throwing me a few too many curve balls. I can't even find my sewing tin. :'(

Future projects include my boyfriend's Mewtwo cosplay, my Lilligant cosplay, and just for fun: little mouse toys for all the cats I love. :)

As for now, I need a motivation booster to help me get prepared for my Lilligant cosplay. I'll be doing my own little 30 Days of Dresses project. I never wear dresses, I'm a bit self-conscious about my body. For the month of August, every day I will wear a different dress. My hope is that I will become comfortable wearing them and get used to wearing nice things, so I can pull off an elegant Lilligant at Ohayocon 2013 (or 2014).

I will be posting the pictures online. Comments and suggestions (including positive critiques) are appreciated, as always :)

Journeys in Japan!

Hello ^_^ This fluffy little cosplayer has just returned home from an epic 2 week adventure IN JAPAN!

Of course, it was for a class, and I still have to finish my japanese journals and presentation. My trip has given me many new ideas for cosplays! I will post some pictures soon.

I went to a maid cafe while I was over there, so I am super excited to get started on my own maid cosplay!!! I also plan to work on a Nurse Joy cosplay, cat-girl cosplays, and so much more! =^_^=

Busy cosplayer update

Whew, it's been such a stressful semester. Thankfully it's almost over! Summer break means more time for doing cosplays! ^_^

Oh, but before summer break... I'm going to Japan!!! :) For two weeks, I'll be in Japan with 5 other classmates, exploring the language, culture, and independent project topics. I'm so excited! ^_^ I hope to get lots of pictures, and I will either put them on here or one of my other blogs.

Once I get back, I'll get started on my next cosplay: Nurse Joy! My boyfriend has been sick on and off for the past 2 months, similar to the way I have been, and he's currently sick again. I offered to dress up as Chansey and bringing him some soup and medicine. He said he'd rather be visited by Nurse Joy. So, I'm going to dedicate this cosplay to him. :3

[Speaking of which, I promised to make him a mewtwo cosplay, which I have yet to begin. Gomenasai!]

It is time... for the pokebra!

Today is the day for awesomesauce. I finally ran out to the store to buy two essentials for my very own pokebra!

1 white bra
Red and black fabric pens
Cost: $20

Yes, I am a weirdo. I put the bra on my gigantic stuffed bunny, appropriately named "Big Bunny".

I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed by Wal-mart's limited selection of both fabric paint AND plain white bras! Actual fabric paint, applied with a brush, might work better. I'll see how these pens do. As for the bra, for a small cup, my best-fit bra size is almost never in stock! And I had so much trouble finding a bra without weird little accessories and lace or whatnot, I was surprised it was that hard to find a plain one in a place like WAL-MART!

So I began by penciling the lines. I used a half-dollar, quarter, and nickle for the circles.

Next came the black marker outline, then filled that in.

Lookin' pretty good so far! :3

Finally, filled in the red and set it out to dry! Viola!

The bad news... it doesn't quite fit right. I'm one of those people that hates trying on clothes in the store, especially shoes and bras, but I was so pumped to get this started, I didn't care that the size was a little big. Next time though, I know for sure I gotta get a pushup. Having a bra that fits well AND looks good is totally a good mood elevator!

Ohayocon 2012!

Was pretty damn awesome! ^_^ Random con people are absolutely AWESOME!

I spent most of the time wandering around with my awesome friends from school. We had so much fun! >w< Of course, there was a friend of mine from elsewhere who kept blowing me off and acting like a prick to me over text, but oh well. When life gives you jerks, you get a new con buddy! Which is exactly what I did, on Sunday at least. He was nice enough to accompany me to the pokemon gaming panel and play DDR with me in the game room when my friends left me all alone at the pokemon panel. XD I'm glad to have a new otaku nerd friend!

Like I said, CON PEOPLE ARE AWESOME!!!

I cosplayed as Pikachu on Friday for the pokemon photoshoot, and Raichu on Saturday and Sunday [Evolution ftw!] I didn't carry my camera around for most of the con, so if anyone who attended Ohayocon has (good-looking) pictures of my cosplay, please leave me a comment! :3

Anyways, Pictures! :D

 Raichu and Poke-friends :3

I'd like to thank the girl that gave me that pichu card bracelet. I was just getting ready in the bathroom with my two friends and she just gives it to me and says my costume is cute. :3 This is what I love about cons, it proves that there are some awesome people in the world. I might make a pichu cosplay for next year's Ohayocon in her honor. >w<

I'd like to hope that my Pikachu and Raichu hugs made people happy too! I got a grand total of 52! I was aiming for 100, but maybe next year. :3

Raichu is complete~! And super kawaii~!

Late last night, amid my achey body and sore throat, I got a sudden surge of cosplay energy after trying to sleep! And now Raichu is finally done! I'm very surprised with the results, it turned out looking pretty good... makes me feel adorable to wear it! :D And that's the point of a cosplay, isn't it? Not to impress others, but to feel good about having made it yourself and feeling good when you wear it!

(Of course I am still secretly hoping it earns me hug and picture requests >w<)

But yes, I somehow managed to finish the stripes. On Tuesday, I finally bought some brown leggings... the only downside is that Walmart only had brown in size Large, X-Large, and XX-Large!!! D: I may or may not attempt to shrink them in the dryer if I have time today.

The tail gave me some trouble though, I had to take it apart twice to resew it because it was so pitiful. Cardboard is a miracle. XD So last night I finished the tail and it looks pretty good. I did the headband a little after midnight, I had to make 3 ears because the second one had the lines on the same side of the other ear XD *fail* Headband came out looking pretty cute too! And I have my duct-tape yellow cheeks >w< Still not sure how to do my hair; a high pony will give me an edgier look, but if I wear my hair down it'll be more sweet and feminine.

I need to find my darn black belt and black shorts for pikachu though! Pikachu- Friday. Raichu- Saturday and Sunday. I need to show the anime world my cleverness of "evolving" XD

Soo......

I will not be posting pictures of the completed cosplay on my blog until after Ohayocon. Or if my illness gets worse by tomorrow, and I am unable to attend Ohayocon, I will post the pictures.

Yeah, so, yesterday I felt the beginnings of a sore throat. Today I feel a full-blown-almost-can't-talk sore throat. And for the past two weeks I have felt fatigued, but most of that has been due to my recent eating problems (which now might be related to my illness, I thought it was just psychological/stress). I will hopefully be going to the health center today though. I just found out that since I have the school's health insurance, I don't have to pay the $10 visit fee. ^_^ $10 more dollars for Ohayocon!

Edit: Yay! Just got an appointment for 11am this morning! :D

But you don't want to hear about my health issues, you want to see some hot cosplay action, right? :3 Alright, I'll show a few (cropped) pictures to whet your Ohayocon appetite! I was so excited last night that I even let my roommate give me a little cat eyeliner tutorial to see how it would look with the costume. I have mixed feelings. It's a pain in the butt to wash off, but it does look kinda cute, but it's also a little much. I probably wont wear much, if any at all. XD Your opinion?

Hope to see you all at Ohayocon! I may be shy, but this year I have a goal of hugging at least 10 random people, and I am not letting myself refuse any pictures or other harmless requests! XD Hm, and just for the record, this will be my first Ohayocon as single woman! :3 Lets hope I don't get too crazy with my fangirl craziness. XD

It's Crunch Time

Less than one week until Ohayocon! >w<

And good news! I'll be sharing a hotel room with a few friends, so now we dont have to make a 45 minute drive to get to the con from campus each day. The con center is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel! Yay! >w<

Alright, crunch time. Trying desperately to finish Raichu despite feeling like it looks like a complete mess.... Watching this lovely AMV as I work on the back stripes is helping things move along pretty quickly.

I watched the first episode of Nyan Koi and it looks like it's going to be a good one! :D (if short, I think it's only 12 episodes, like Kampfer. )

5pm: Back stripes done! And I just barely had enough dark brown thread left. XD Taking a quick break to give myself a pedicure and do some Japanese homework and then I'll be starting on the tail!

9pm: Feeling sick again :/ Tried to eat mac n cheese and couldn't even finish half. Bleh, and my roommate never came back so we could go to Walmart to get my brown leggins >.< Nuuuuu!!!!

I hope this cosplay gets done eventually.

Raichuu~ in college

I'm back at the dorm. I was going to take a picture of Raichu in some part of my room, but sadly he got left behind. :( (Because SOMEBODY kept hiding him from me. >.>)

Minichu <3
Megachu <3

I hope pikachu will suffice. Good thing I have two of them. >w<

Alllllriiiight! Time for this nerd girl extraordinaire to get to work! *listens to some pokemon theme song to get pumped up!*

*Several Hours Later....*
Aaand I've gotten distracted and gotten nothing done on my cosplay except setting up my sewing machine...

Raichu indecision >.O

Getting more work done on my Raichu cosplay! At this point, depending on a few last minute changes I might make, I think I'm about 20-30% done. I'd like to ask for some suggestions to anyone who might happen to come across this. Being a Libra, I am the queen of indecision. >.<

Issue 1
So Raichu has white belly fur. I tried adding white belly fur to my cosplay, but I feel like it overpowers it (so I haven't sewn it on yet). I'm not quite sure if I should just sew it on the way it is, or cut it differently, or even omit it.

 See Raichu-------------------------------------------------------------------->
Now see the pictures listed below.

Issue 2
The collar/zipper. At first, I had intended on cutting it out and just making it like a V-neck, then I decided to just leave the zipper because it looked okay. Here's a picture with the zipper and collar, and one with it tucked under (if I were to cut it off and sew it, it would look much better than just "tucked under" XD)

Issue 3
Brown leggings or orange leggings? (Wearing black in the pictures above because that's the only color I have at the moment.)

Issue 4
How do I pull this off and look neither stupid nor slutty? I'd like the median of cute, maybe even a touch sexy (aka, appropriate for a 20-year-old)? (hahaha, like THAT's ever gonna happen XD)

These are just the issues thus far. I still have to do the tail, ears, and back stripes. Knowing me, I'll come up with more indecision by then.

Yeah, any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Please cast a vote on issues 1 - 4 if you care enough to give your opinion! :3 (You know you want to!!! ....not like anyone even reads this... T_T Uhm, free Raichu hug to anyone who helps by giving their opinion and/or suggestions?)

Pokebra ~*~

I have been inspired by the amazing geek couple from youtube, and their awesome Pokemon Party Rock music video.

It seems that they've also got a tutorial for the Pokebra!!!

Next project? I think so!!! [I could always use more epic undergarments.]

Wearing this will help give me the nerdy encouragement to.... be the very best, like no one ever was....
(here we go....)
"To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause

I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside

Pokemon, its you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokemon, oh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend

Pokemon, a heart so true
Our courage will pull us through

You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokemon, gotta catch 'em all
POKEMON!"

Oh yeah, that just happened.

Day 1: Pinning, sewing, and piercing!

So I finally have a decent block of time to kick into cosplay-work overdrive!

Finished pinning the shirt. Now it actually looks like it will fit my curves nicely, rather than looking like a baggy ugly shirt. Tried it on and managed not to poke myself TOO many times with the pins. XD See? It's starting to look cute already!

Decided that it probably would look best with a headband + ears, rather than a full-out fleece hat. Now I'll need to decide what to do with my hair.... low pigtails?
Like this?

Got my sewing machine set up, ready to sew! :3
Watching/Listening to this to entertain myself:

Okay, sewing is not going as easily as planned. The needle wont go through the fabric! I'm fairly certain I'm using the correct needle... gahhhh! :'(

3pm: One side sewn! I'll need to hand-stitch the super-thick parts (or figure out something... what do normal seamstresses do with thick stuff like this?)

9pm: Back to working on my cosplay after a short break for Olive Garden and the mall. Got the other side sewn! Came out just a tiny bit puckered, but hopefully it'll be better once I iron the seam down.

Hopefully I'll get more done tomorrow. I am exhausted. Maybe I went a bit far today, getting my (left) ear cartilage pierced finally...

Successful Raichu cosplay shopping!

FINALLY made a trip to Jo-Ann fabrics yesterday and got all the rest of my supplies! Suppliesssss >w<

I did pretty good at the store. Jo-Anns was having some pretty awesome New Years sales, so I'm proud to say my entire purchase was under $20!! So now I have everything I need! :)  I went ahead and splurged on an actual pair of fabric scissors, since I noticed my regular scissors are were not cutting properly.

On New Years eve, I was bored while we were waiting for another friend to show up, so I went ahead and cut off the sleeves. It's starting to look cute already!

I was planning on taking in the sides and sewing on the belly fabric this evening, but I guess we've got surprise dinner plans. So it'll have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow. Still debating whether or not I'm going to cut off the zipper part. I might just wear it around un-zippered

To the right is the shirt with the belly fabric right about where it's going to be, but it'll be cut and sewn more rounded.

And I've noticed that my camera's flash has been making the color of the jacket look really weird, so this is what the actual color is, without flash.
